Football Line-up
THOMAS BYAR, End
Allow me to introduce "T. B.," the smashing end, and the fear and agony of his
opponents Although a one-year man, he was an excellent end.
HOWARD DUMAS, End
"Spider," as he is better known, was of flyweight, but he made up for this
deficiency in sport, aggressiveness, and his thorough knowledge of the game.
FRANCIS CLENDENIN, Center
Francis played a great game at center. Even though his first year in football, he opened a
veritable pike when called upon.
SHERLY WOODS, Guard
"Bunk" played a consistent game at guard. He was like a stone wall on defense,
aggressive, and a dandy spinier.
BUMPASS BROSWELL, Guard
"Bros" was a player of "grits" and endurance. He was a Sampson in the
line, and his defensive work wrecked many plays.
WATSON POTTS, Guard
This skinny boy made a good man at guard and played his position well. He will help make
Grove's line one of the best next year.
HERMON CLAXTON (Captain-Elect), Tackle
He was the notorial member of our team. When tears found their way into his eyes he was
"super scrapiron" for his opponents.
THOMAS DUNCAN, Tackle
This football player of fame was one of our most active warriors. He was very active, a
foot changer, and a deadly tackier of endurance and ability.
JESSY VAUGHN, Linernai
"Chicken" was no back number. He is a football player of rellat.lity and power.
We look forward to you next year.
ALBUR AKER, Lineman
..When Aker came in as substitute the old machine worked like greased lightning. A good
offensive and defensive player. |
