Grove High School Class of 1919 ~ Yearbook Dedication

WHAT is our "Spirit of Grove"? Is it an exuberant enjoyment of the pleasure, the
fun and "good times" we had when we were there? Is it an appreciation, an ex-
pression of our acknowledgment of that which was good, and true, and worthy to
be taken as something to model our short lives by? We think it is both.

The Spirit of Grove seems to be a tangible something, to those who have known and
loved her. A something that was ours to keep; something that could safely be borne
thru the disappointment of school life, thru the nagging troubles of a work-a-day life.

The embodiment of Grove is not of the nature that keeps one at a distance, thru awe.
or repels with uneasy fright.

That thing which we call "School Spirit" cannot be found in any one particular place.
It takes all - a fusion of the good and the bad - the weary grind of class room as well
as the joy of the athletic field, to give one the feeling of possession, of loving fellowship with something revered and loved.

Incorporated in that which we call "Grove Spirit" is all that is good, and true, and right.
To the person who has perception enough to see them, and firmness of spirit and
strength of will to resolutely follow what he sees, will come all that is good and desirable
in Life, and the contentment and joy of the Hereafter.
