SAVE GROVE TOWER
Good hands saved Grove Tower |
| The success of a project usually depends on the dedicated effort of a few peo- ple willing to give of their time and talent to see it through: Many are willing to help. but the way must be provided by those few will- ing to bear the burden of leadership. This has been demonstrated in the suc- cessful effort to save the Grove School Tower building from the wrecking crew and preserve the historic landmark for posterity The Tower will be rededicated Saturday morning in a program to, begin prompt- ly at 9 o'clock. It is most fitting that it will be rededicated to the continued use of education, the purpose for which the struc- ture was first erected in 1906 by county and city with the encouragement and financial |
assistance of Dr. E.W. Grove, the local pharmaceutical genius who became wealthy and offered an endowment to operate Henry County's first high school. Recognition will be given Saturday to those who have given money to make the Tower restoration possible, and to, those who led the funds drive, to those who work- ed in the campaign and to those who con- tributed manual labor to restore the long vacant building and make it useable as headquarters for the Henry County SchooL System and Board of Education. Congratulations to all who helped and special commendations to those who led the way and gave many hours of time to the project. It was a worthy project and a job well done. |
