SAVE GROVE TOWER ASSOCIATION |
Built by Henry County citizens in 1906 in response to an endowment from philanthropist E.W. Grove, the Tower Building served students for 73 years. It had been vacant for four years when. in the fall of 1983, a group of in- terested citizens met to organize a campaign to restore the building to public service. The outcome was the Save Grove Tower Association plan to renovate the building for use as offices of Henry County Board of Education. The project, to include initially the first floor and basement with the second floor to be attempted later, was estimated to cost $225,000. A campaign for contributions met with enthusiastic response. |
