Four Paris young men left by bus for Fort Jackson, South Carolina,  to enter the Army. They were members of the local National Guard unit and had volunteered for active duty. In the group were Jimmy Turner ('55), Tilly Latimer ('54), Mervyn Norwood ('55) and Teddy Jenkins ('52).
