I got a letter this month from former Parisian Bill Newport of Bartlett. Bill's father and
Grandfather were born in Henry County and, according to Bill, the earliest Newport,
Abraham Reed Newport, arrived here about 1825.
The Newports settled in Conyersville, and Bill is particularly interested in finding more
information on Red Top School, which was located in the Conyersville community. His
grandmother, Minnie Alice Dunlap, was a teacher in the school, and Bill believes she is
probably in the group photograph (above) , along with two of her sons, Cortez and Earl.
Anyone knowing about Red Top School (or can identify people in the photo) please
