The Lee School Association received a $25,000 grant from the Tennessee Historical Commission this week, according to association president Ray Harding.

The aid from the commission is a matching grant with an additional $17,000 to be provided by the association.

The money will be used to begin phase one of remodeling the building. The remodeling will include classroom space, bathrooms, wiring, heating and air, a hallway and the parking lot.

"The grant could not have come at a better time since this summer the academy of arts programs will begin in June and we need to have the building ready for occupancy by the academy," Harding said.

The classes will be offered to children and adults.
