Don't miss it:
The movie or the academy for the arts

Cherry Jones makes plug for
the cause of Lee School

"We can't miss this one," actress Cherry Jones told a hometown audience Friday night, and she wasn't talking about her new movie.

She was talking about the Lee School Academy for the Arts, the cause for which she had come to the Parisian Theater for a pair of benefit showings of the movie, "The Village."

The village that is next to her heart is named Paris, Tennessee, and she spoke enthusiastically about the concept of using the old Lees School building as a center for an eclectic mix of training in anything that could be called art. From Yoga to playing trumpet, sponsors of the program hope to be able to provide facilities and instructors.

It's a way to provide a viable use for the building as a means of saving it from destruction; but even more than that, it is a positive asset to the community.

If it can produce one artists anywhere in the league of Cherry Jones, it will be worth while.
