Cherry  Jones  to appear at movie showing

Tony Award-winning actress and Paris native Cherry Jones will make an appearance in Paris July 29 for the premiere of the newest film in which she appears, "The Village."

The Parisian Theater on Jim Adams Drive will be hosting the premiere, which will raise funds for the Lee School Academy for the Arts.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 the night of the show. They're now on sale at the Parisian's box office on Jim Adams Drive in Paris. The box office opens at 6 nightly and 1 p.m. on the weekends.

"I'm thrilled to be in Paris for this event," Ms. Jones said in a press release. The Lee Academy for the Arts is a marvelous addition to the cultural fabric of Paris and Henry County.

"We all need to support it any way we can. I applaud every-one involved in the effort, and hope to see a theater full of patrons of the arts that evening."

Joining Ms. Jones in the film, which is directed by M. Night Shyamalan, is an all-star cast that includes William Hurt, Joaquin Phoenix, Sigourney Weaver, Adrien Brody and Bryce Howard, daughter of  Ron Howard.
Set in a hamlet in rural Pennsylvania in the late 1800's, the film revolves around the fearful citizens who are confined to their village because of the creatures inhabiting the surrounding woods.

Like Shyamalan's previous films, such as "The Sixth Sense,"the movie ends with a twist.

A reception with Ms. Jones and light hors d'oeuvres will be held at 6 in the lobby of the theater.

The showing of the film will begin at 7 with a question-and-answer session with Ms. Jones to follow.

The Lee School Academy for the Arts, located in the old Lee School building, opened this summer. It offers year-round classes and workshops with an emphasis on visual and performing arts to citizens
of all ages from throughout Paris and Henry County.
