The portrait on the wall is of  W.R. Jarrett, a former principal of the school (Annie Jarrett was his wife.) Founded in the early 1920’s to provide elementary
education for the Black children of Paris, the school operated at it’s Church Street location until the Paris Special School District was integrated in 1968.
