| The funeral service for farmer and
retired carburetor plant employee John M. Russell of Buchanan will be at 2
p.m. Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Randy Stephens, preacher at Sulphur Well Church of Christ and the Rev. John Holcomb of Trinity Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Bobby Milam, Darin Parker, Horace Whitehead, Keith Fitzhugh, Curt Paschall and Kevin Lancaster. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Fitzhugh, James Paschall, Jonah McKenzie, Boyd Heatom, Duard Parsons, Dale Cooley and Trey King. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after noon Wednesday. Russell, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Plumley Rehabilitation Center. His wife, Carolyn Fitzhugh Russell, survives. They were married on Sept. 12, 1958. Born Nov. 29, 1928, in Henry County, he was a son of Willie B. and Ruth Upchurch Russell, now both deceased. Russell was a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ. He retired from Holley carburetor plant and then farmed until his death. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Paris Masonic Lodge 108. He also leaves one daughter: Kim Russell of Nashville; and one son: Monte Russell of Paris. He also was preceded in death by a sister: Elizabeth Godwin. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sulphur Well Church of Christ building fund. |
