Former Paris resident Louise Lampkins Rucker, 95, of Collierville died
today, Jan. 3, 2011, at her residence. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. Born in Martin on Jan. 5, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Jessie Brooks Lampkins. Her husband of 35 years, Edmund B. Rucker, died Aug. 9, 1975. Rucker was a Grove High School graduate. A family member said she was a dedicated wife and mother and attended countless baseball, softball, basketball and hockey games supporting her family. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, PTA member and school mom for many years. She was a loyal fan of University of Memphis sports, as well as the Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Braves. She attended Saint Matthew’s Methodist Church, Ridgeway Baptist Church and Bellevue Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She leaves one son: Van (Debbie) Rucker of Collierville; a sister: Rachel Sturdivant of Paris; a sister-in-law: Val Routon of Paris; and two grandchildren: Rachel and Edmund Rucker, both of Collierville. She also was preceded in death by a brother: Boyd Lampkins; and a sister: Lottie Berry. |
