| Charles Orr The funeral service for Baptist minister Charles Eaker Orr will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member and longtime minister. Jerry W. Massey and Carroll C. Owen will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Chosen as pallbearers are Mike Garner, Jimmy Williams, Charles and David Joiner, Billy Mitchell, Windell Mask and Kevin White. Honorary pallbearers will be First Baptist Church deacons and staff members and members of the mens Bible class at the church. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Orr, 77, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Henry County Medical Center. Born in Paris on Aug. 28, 1929, he was the son of Charles Parrish Orr and Sula Ellison Eaker Orr. Orr was a 1947 graduate of Grove High School, where he was valedictorian. He held a degree from Murray State University and served at First Baptist Church in various positions for more than 50 years. At his death he was the churchs minister of senior adults. He leaves a sister: Emily O. Shipper of Jackson; one niece: Elizabeth E. (Billy) Mitchell of Nashville; two nephews: Charles (Joi) Joiner of Luray and David Keller Joiner of Tampa, Fla.; and close friend: Carolyn Brisendine of Paris. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 313 N. Poplar St., Paris; or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Regions Bank, Attn: Gayle Dodd, 914 E. Wood St., Paris. |
