| Former Henry Countian Claud P. Miller of
Jackson, Mich., passed away Dec. 12, 2007, at Hospice Home of Jackson. A sister, Elizabeth Oliver, lives in Paris. Mr. Miller was born in Pine Bluff, Ark. on Feb. 26, 1923, to Lee V. and Edna Lewis Miller. He was youngest of 10 children until he was 22, then came along a baby brother. He attended grade and high school in Paris. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 and retired a Master Sergeant in 1967. Prior to entering the Marine Corps, he worked for Holley Carburetor in Detroit. After retiring from the military he worked for Dana Corp., and Cathodic Electrocoating in Ecorse, Mich., until retiring in 1986. In 1945 Claud was married to the former Isabell Daugherty of Detroit, who preceded him in death in 1991. He leaves one son, Chris (Darlene) Miller of Jackson; two daughters, Claudia (Robert) Cole of Jackson and Patricia (James) Bohn of Brighton, Mich.; He also leaves seven grandchildren and six great-grandsons; two brothers, Jacob of Memphis and Charles of Paducah; one other sister, Florence; and a special friend, Melva Jean Taggart. Claud was on active duty in three American conflicts: WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and member of American Legion Post 29, of Jackson, Mich., and AMVETS Post 1812 of Riverview, Mich. He was also an honorary lifetime member of the Air National Guard Staff NCO Graduates Association. Clauds favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening, reading and traveling the back country roads of America to visit off the beaten path places. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Jan. 12, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Charles J. Burden & Son Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson, Mich.
