| Former Henry Countian Dennis S.
Marr, 61, of Olive Branch, Miss., died Aug. 29, 2009, at Germantown
Methodist Hospital in Germantown. His wife of 15 years, Denise Scholes Marr, survives. The body was cremated. A military funeral was conducted Sept. 4 at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Shelby County. A memorial service and celebration of his life was held Sept. 5 at Maples Memorial Methodist Church in Olive Branch. Marr was born in Paris on May 9, 1948, a son of the late James and Laverne Gatewood Marr. A salesman most of his life, he had last worked for Gossett Motor Cars in Memphis. Marr was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving two tours of duty. He served with the 101st, 82nd and 173rd airborne divisions. His wife said he loved life and enjoyed his gun and Corvette collection. He also leaves a son: Stacy Marr of Paris; a daughter: Tweed (Chris) McKinney of Paris; four grandsons: Justin (Leah) Marr of Puryear and Andrew and Trevor Marr and Garrett McKinney, all of Paris; two great-grandchildren: Aiden and Emily Marr; two stepchildren: Marc and Kellie Warren, both of Olive Branch; and a special daughter-in-law: Hope Marr of Paris. He also was preceded in death by a brother: Ricky Marr. |
