| Narion Duane Lacy. 68,
of Paris died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The body was to be cremated. A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Jerry Massey, Bob Shull and Bennie Akers will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles H. "Homer" Spain, Walter P. Griffey, Jr., Harlan McCartney, William Atchison, Joe VanDyke and Billy Owens. Following the service the Lacy family will receive friends in the welcome center at the church. After visiting at the church, a burial is planned at Hansel Cemetery east of Paris. Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Born in Paris on November 2, 1934, he was a son of the late Frank Thomas "F.T." Lacy and Elizabeth Avenelle Underwood Lacy. He was married on December 22, 1978, to the former Karen Burdick, who lives in Reston, Virginia. A U.S. Army veteran, Lacy was a Grove High School graduate. He received a law degree from Memphis State University, Now the University of Memphis. He was elected to the Tennessee Legislature in 1960. In addition to practicing law in McKenzie and Paris, he became attorney for the U.S. Postal Service in 1968, where he worked for 35 years. Lacy also was a legal lecturer in several states. A former member of First Baptist Church in Paris, he was a member of Reston (Va.) Bible Church at his death. He also leaves two daughters: Susan (Troy) Hawksford of Northville, Michigan,and Kirsten Bruestle of Bemidji, Minnesota: one son: Monty Karen Lunt of Fairfax, Virginia; One brother: Billy Maurice (Roezona) Lacy of Springville; one sister: Betty (Benny) Stubblefield Akers of Springville; one aunt: Louise Underwood of Paris; Two nieces: Sherry Jackson of Summertown and Valerie Godbott of Little Rock, Arkansas; Three nephews: Kenny Lacy of Paris, Tim Lacy of Puryear and Jim Stubblefield of Murfreesboro; and eight grandchildren. The family request no flowers. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Tennessee Affiliate, 4205 Hillsboro Road, Suite 200, Nashville 37215. |
