| School teacher Judy Kay Veazey Hooper, 67,
of Paris died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was married on June 20, 1965, to Andrew Andy Hooper, who survives. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Paris, where she was a lifelong member. The Revs. Dossie Wheatley and Paul Veazey and a great-nephew, Brian Ross Wimberley, will officiate. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are nephews: Duke Ing Veazey, Dan Brite Veazey Jr., Stan Ross Veazey, James Norman Turner Jr., Don Thomas Turner, John Lasater Veazey, Terry Lee Turner and Michael Ross Turner. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Saturday. Born Nov. 23, 1941, in Henry County, she was a daughter of the late Don Dudley Veazey and Nettie Ross Veazey. She taught first grade at Lee, Atkins-Porter and Rhea Elementary schools. She was a graduate of Grove High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin. Her husband said she was an avid ballroom dancer and Tennessee Vols fan. She also leaves one daughter: Donna Lee Hooper (Christopher Ernest) Shields of Knoxville; one son: Steve Ross Hooper of Memphis; one sister: Donna Turner of Camden; one brother: Carl Ross (Jacque) Veazey of Paris; a sister-in-law: Vian Veazey of Paris; and three grandchildren: Samuel Andrew Drew Shields and Shelby Lee Shields, both of Knoxville, and Chelsea Elizabeth Hooper of Memphis. She also was preceded in death by a brother; Dan Brite Veazey; and a brother-in-law: James Turner. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
