| Former Hill’s Electric owner and
operator Elroy Hill, 81, of Paris died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Vanderbilt
Medical Center in Nashville. His wife, Retia Rhodes Hill, survives. They were married on April 29, 1962. His funeral is planned at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Corey Cain, pastor of Maplewood Baptist Church, where Hill was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Chosen as pallbearers are Ricky, Bill and Kenny Rhodes, Jerry Culpepper, Jerry Gebert and Billy Pierce. Visitation is set from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Born in Paris on March 21, 1929, he was a son of the late Herbert and Lillie Mae Bruce Hill. Hill was a graduate of Grove High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He did electrical work, appliance repair and plumbing through Hill’s Electric in Paris. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Pam Bigham of Paris; a sister, Katherine Davis of Paris; a sister-in-law: Shirley (Joe) Robins of Big Sandy; two brothers: Herbert Ray (Ann) Hill and Grover Hill, both of Paris; two brothers-in-law: Bill Rhodes of Paris and Fountain Rhodes of Chicago; a grandchild: Andrew Bigham of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. |
