Alexander Gaddy, 96, of Memphis died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Saint
Francis Hospital in Memphis. A graveside service is scheduled at 4 p.m. Friday at Maplewood Cemetery, with Rob Martin, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 3-3:45 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home. The daughter of the late Chesley and Kate Walters Alexander, she was born June 11, 1914, in Henry County. She was married to Joe Basil “J.B.” Gaddy, who died in 1981. Gaddy was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and worked in various departments and committees. She leaves one daughter, Ann (William) Upchurch of Huntsville, Ala.; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Upchurch of Virginia Beach, Va., Patricia (David) Aldridge of Germantown, Lee (Chris) Poore of Lexington, Ky., and Lynn (Scott) Drawdy of Houston; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church television ministry or the church’s food bank. |
