| A graveside service for retired factory
worker Katherine May Dodd of Paris will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery. The
Rev. Larry Simmons of First Baptist Church in Paris, where she was a member, will
officiate. There will be no visitation. McEvoy Funeral Home is in charge. Dodd, 93, died Wednesday night, March 4, 2009, at Paris Healthcare Center. Born Nov. 24, 1915, in Newington, Ga., she was the daughter of Archie E. Smith and Bessie May Robinson Smith Baker, both deceased. She was the stepdaughter of Virgil Baker, also deceased. She was married on Sept. 24, 1941 to Thomas Haywood Dodd, who died Jan. 6, 1967. Dodd was a 1934 graduate of Grove High School. She retired in 1979 from Salant & Salant Manufacturing Plant in Paris. She leaves two daughters: Pamela Pam (Steve) Seymour of McKenzie and Carol Dodd of Friendswood, Texas; two grandchildren: Chad Seymour of Huntsville, Ala., and Chuck (Jamie) Seymour of Kingsland, Ga.; one great-grandchild: Will Seymour of Kingsland; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by two half sisters: Jane Carol Cannon in 1994 and Ruby Baker Hurt; and one brother: Archie O. Smith; and a half brother: Virgil Buddy Baker. |
