| The funeral service for former
school teacher Emily Sue Daniel Cox of Paris was planned at 2 p.m. today at
First Baptist Church, where she was a member, had organized the prayer
ministry and was the first interpreter for the deaf. Trent Bullock, Larry Simmons and Lelan Daniel McReynolds were to officiate. Burial was to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Chosen as pallbearers were Jimmy Williams, Homer Maddox, John Cleaver, Timmy Williams, Max Middleton and Vince Tusa. The Steele family and Paul Veazey were honorary pallbearers. Visitation was Sunday at Ridgeway Funeral Home and after noon today at the church. Born March 11, 1939, in Paris, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Reese “Jack” Daniel and Addie Cope Daniel. She was married on June 15, 1960, to James L. Cox, who died May 15, 2009. She was a former teacher in the Henry County School System and at John R. Miller School and taught sign language countywide. She leaves a daughter: Elizabeth Cox Grimstead of Paris; a son: James Daniel “Dani” Cox and fiancee Stacey Neal of Union City; a grandson: Cameron Riley Warren Mitchell and his siblings: Amanda Nicole and Benjamin Wesley Mitchell of Memphis. Memorials may be made to Puerto Rico Deaf Ministries, David and Marsha Mitchell Missionaries, P.O. Box 7423, Ponce, Puerto Rico 00732, or to the Union Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 1050 Union University Drive, Jackson. |
