| Earline B. Carter A funeral service for Paris native Earline Blackwood Carter of LasCruces, N.M., was scheduled at 11a.m. today at Baca's Funeral Chapelin Las Cruces. Burial was to follow there. Mrs. Carter, 82, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at the home of a daughter, Marie (James) Magee in Las Cruces. Locally, she leaves a sister-in-law: Marjorie Blackwood, who supplied information; and a cousin: Mildred Harris, both of Paris. Born July 21, 1921, she was, the daughter of the late Clifford and Edith Blackwood. |
Mrs. Carter was valedictorian of her 1939 Grove High School class. She attended Murray State Uni- versity before joining the World War II effort, working at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, she met and married U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Ray N. Carter in 1946. He died in August 1999. She also leaves one other daugh- ter: Sandy (H.R. Bodie) Chavez of Silver City, N.M.; One brother: Terry (Velma) Blackwood of Richardson, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers: Prince Blackwood, who lived in Paris, and Bob Black- wood, who lived in Mobile, Ala. |
